QUESTIONS ABOUT COOLTONE®
Have questions about what your next fitness journey looks like? Here’s all you need to know.

-
Since CoolTone® treatment is noninvasive, it’s pretty straightforward. The applicator is placed onto the desired treatment area, and then it goes to work by stimulating muscle contractions. You may experience muscular pain, temporary muscle spasm, temporary joint or tendon pain, and redness at or near the treatment site—everyone’s experience is different.
-
-
Each CoolTone® treatment takes about 30 minutes. Your provider may recommend a series of 4–8 treatments over the course of two to four weeks, being sure to space your sessions by at least one day for rest.
-
-
Just as it’s impossible to predict exactly when you’d see results from a new ab series you started, there’s no precise timeline for the exact moment you can expect to see results from CoolTone®. Generally, though, most people notice results after a series of four to eight CoolTone® treatments.
-
-
You know that expression “if you don’t use it, you lose it”? That applies to any and all forms of muscle toning, including CoolTone®, which isn’t permanent. It’s key to continue your current fitness routine even after CoolTone® treatments to help maintain your results. Your provider may recommend maintenance treatments after your initial treatment series.
-
-
One of the best aspects of CoolTone® is the fact that it’s noninvasive. Translation: Post CoolTone® treatment, you may experience muscle, joint, or tendon pain, muscle spasm, and skin redness at or near the treatment area, but typically, you should be able to go about your daily activities as you normally would. Just don’t forget to schedule your follow-up appointment.

-
Only a provider can determine that based on your medical history, but we can say that most candidates for this treatment are close to their ideal body weight and do not have a contraindication to treatment.

CoolTone® is a machine-powered approach to toning and strengthening muscles. Every time you do a squat, a lunge, or a crunch, the fibers in your muscles contract. Do enough contractions and you tone and strengthen the muscle. CoolTone® — which is FDA-cleared for use on the abdomen, buttocks and thighs — uses a technology called magnetic muscle stimulation (MMS) to contract the muscle fibers in the same way that a workout might. The difference is that it triggers much stronger contractions than your body can achieve on its own—all you have to do is lie there.
-
-
In the same way that a tough workout can feel intense, you might feel the burn with CoolTone® as your muscles are contracting. But the beauty of CoolTone® is that the intensity level of muscle stimulation can be calibrated to the individual. So, if you’re feeling any discomfort, your provider can turn it down—just like your trainer giving you a lighter weight.

CoolTone® has been FDA-cleared to strengthen and tone muscles in certain areas of the body, including the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. The technology that it uses—electromagnetic muscle stimulation technology—is generally considered to be safe. Common side effects may include, but may not be limited to, muscular pain, temporary muscle spasm, temporary joint or tendon pain, and redness at or near the treatment site. Please see additional Important Safety Information below.

No. While CoolTone® targets muscle tone and definition, CoolSculpting® targets stubborn fat. They also use very different technologies. For CoolTone®, it’s magnetic muscle stimulation, whereas for CoolSculpting®, it’s cryolipolysis—also known as fat-freezing. They are different treatments that address different elements of the body in very different ways. Common side effects may include, but may not be limited to, muscular pain, temporary muscle spasm, temporary joint or tendon pain, and redness at or near the treatment site. Please see additional Important Safety Information below.

No. CoolTone® is FDA-cleared to strengthen and tone muscle, rather than reduce fat.

The cost of your personal treatment will depend on your body goals, the areas you want to treat, and the number of sessions that your provider recommends. In your initial consultation, they will be able to give you an accurate price for your bespoke program.
-
-
In your initial consultation, your CoolTone® provider will discuss your body goals with you, and the areas that you want to work on. Based on this, they may recommend a preliminary series of four to eight sessions over a two- to four-week period. Further maintenance treatments may also be required, but you should discuss this with your provider.
